Technology company, 3DU was launching a 3D conversion kit for smart phones at the 2016 Gadget Show and wanted to maximise the opportunity by reaching as wide an audience as possible with the news.
Cream undertook the work as a one-off piece of PR because of the highly newsworthy nature of the story. A comprehensive media list was created using a combination of Cream’s own contacts and its state-of-the-art media database. A press release was distributed along with an image and Cream supported this with personal media relations.
The press release was extremely well received, and gained 40 pieces of coverage – online, offline, and broadcast. BBC Look North filmed at 3DU’s offices and ran the story on its lunchtime, evening and late bulletins. The effect was also observed on social media, with Twitter activity increasing significantly whenever coverage was achieved. The story achieved a total audience reach of over 2 million. For every £1 spent with Cream 3DU reached 5,715 people.
