100 Smiles Campaign Honours Yorkshire’s Inspiring Individuals
After a summer of searching, a campaign which looked for Yorkshire’s most inspirational individuals and groups has named its 100 Happy Makers.
The 100 Smiles campaign was launched to recognise those from the region who go above and beyond to make others happy.
Nominations flooded in from across the region and included everyone from volunteers, community groups, foster parents and even a dedicated lollipop lady.
The campaign, which has been led by Totally Tipi, culminated with a special party in a tipi at Three Acres Inn and Restaurant on Friday (October 13) where Yorkshire’s 100 Happy Makers joined together to celebrate their achievements.
The event saw five exemplary Happy Makers named which include: Irene Houson and Molly Johnson (St George’s Crypt, Leeds), Tobias Garbutt (The Principle Trust, Skipton), Anne Hart (Oxspring Primary School, Sheffield), Sandra Copnall (Breast Cancer Haven) and Ellie Mae Batty (TADS Barnsley).
Laura Drury, director of Totally Tipi said: “There’s a lot of good going on which often goes unnoticed. We launched the 100 Smiles campaign to give some well-deserved recognition to those who make Yorkshire the wonderful place it is.
“Our company slogan is Where Happy Happens and to have these incredible people join us for a celebration seemed like the perfect way to say, ‘thank you’ for all of their hard work.
“It’s been overwhelming to receive all the varied nominations from our guests’ family members, friends and colleagues and we were truly touched by the stories we heard.”
Totally Tipi is Yorkshire’s premier supplier of happiness through its luxury teepees and events. Its directors’ passion for rewarding good causes led to the creation of the campaign.
Jay Ashton, director of Totally Tipi explains: “I’ve seen first-hand the work and endless hours devoted to good causes; it can be quite thankless and there aren’t many opportunities to unwind. Whilst these people don’t do what they do to gain recognition, we thought a party to celebrate what they do and give them a chance to let their hair down was much needed.”
Individuals and groups also recognised within the 100 Smiles campaign include: More in Common, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Huddersfield Live and CHART Kirklees.
