Complementary Health Expert Launches Book to Support Chronic Pain Sufferers

A complementary therapist with clinics in Leeds, Brighton and London’s Harley Street is expanding into the world of publishing after securing a book deal with Lotus Publishing.

Amanda Oswald, who specialises in myofascial release (MFR) to treat chronic pain, has practices in Leeds, Brighton and London’s Harley Street under the name Pain Care Clinic.

Leeds-based Amanda was first inspired to practise MFR after researching advanced anatomy and physiology and specialist bodywork techniques to help her own recovery from a slipped disc.

After 10 years practising myofascial release and teaching, as well as being instrumental in developing the UK’s highest level professional diploma in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage, Amanda’s first book Living Pain Free: Healing Chronic Pain with Myofascial Release was snapped up by Lotus Publishing.

“There’s a real buzz around myofascial release among elite athletes who are already using the technique as part of their training and rehabilitation programmes. However, I believe it has much wider relevance to people with everyday injuries and chronic pain conditions”, said Amanda, whose clients commonly seek help for conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraines, repetitive strain injury (RSI), and back pain.

“Many of my clients have been through the medical mill and ‘standard’ therapies haven’t worked. There are so many people suffering chronic pain who have been written off by doctors and told they have to live with it. However, there are still many ways in which they can be helped.

“Myofascial release gently eases chronic pain and restores alignment and mobility by focusing on fascia, the main connective tissue that runs deep into the body, as well as on muscles, joints and nerves.”

The book includes plain English explanations of chronic pain, fascia, and myofascial release, and offers practical self-help techniques.

“I wanted to write this book so people could discover more about fascia and because I firmly believe that informing and empowering people is the first step towards their recovery.”

The book is available through Amazon and priced £14.99.
