Festive Fun Comes to Huddersfield

Get ready to eat, drink and be merry as Huddersfield’s first Winter Festival takes over St George’s Square with an enchanting pop-up bar in stunning giant teepees.

Totally Tipi is bringing its unique take on the Danish concept of ‘hygge’ to historic St George’s Square when its Hygge Tipi takes centre stage at the town’s first winter celebrations.

Hygge Tipi is a pop-up bar which provides the perfect refuge of warmth and relaxation in between visiting the children’s Winter Wonderland Workshop and carol singing which will also form part of Huddersfield Winter Festival.

‘Hygge’ pronounced “hoo-guh” is a Danish concept which is best described as a quality of cosiness or comfortability, making simple, everyday things more meaningful.

At Hygge Tipi, this means creating a warm atmosphere where you can enjoy the good things in life with friends and family.

Laura Drury, director at Totally Tipi, explained: “It’s been fantastic to see Hygge Tipi met with such enthusiasm at previous events this year. We think that the chilly weather during Huddersfield Winter Festival will make people enjoy the comfort of our teepees all the more.”

Hygge Tipi’s Scandinavian giant teepees form the perfect space to relax with a roaring fire after a day’s shopping. As the night draws in, Hygge Tipi’s bar will take centre stage with its fine selection of wines and craft ales – perfect tonics against the chilly winter weather.

Huddersfield Winter Festival is organised by Huddersfield Live and will run 17th November until 1st January 2018, Wednesday to Sunday 11am – 9pm and has a host of attractions for kids and adults alike.

Poppy Stähelin, Director of Huddersfield Live said: “We want our Winter Festival to be a centrepiece for the town over the Christmas period. We have a feeling Hygge Tipi will be one of its most popular attractions!”

Families and individuals are welcome to enjoy the atmosphere that only the Hygge Tipi can provide.  More information can be found at www.facebook.com/huddersfieldwinterfestival.
