New Qualification Puts Redfern’s Sophie on Flight Path to Success
A former cabin crew member has seen her new career take off, thanks to support from her Bradford employer Redfern.
Sophie Hesp, aged 25, joined the leading travel management company in 2012 as a consultant after beginning her career with BMI Baby. However, her talents and ambitions to move into a communications and marketing role were soon spotted by Redfern’s management.
After on the job experience, Redfern chose to invest in Sophie’s training and she recently undertook the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Foundation Award, passing with merit. The CIPR Foundation Award is a nationally recognised qualification for those entering or undertaking new roles within the PR profession.
Sophie has since been promoted to supplier relations and communications manager, taking responsibility for social media and other PR and communications activities.
Business development director, Kate Wimpeney said: “Young people are often leaving school without key skills businesses like ours need. We’ve had many young people like Sophie join our team who are extremely talented and willing to expand their skills.
“Sophie undertaking her CIPR Foundation Award is just another way of us investing in our staff and helping them meet their career aspirations.”
Sophie added: “The team at Redfern have always been very supportive, investing in my career and providing guidance in my five years here.
“The CIPR Foundation Award enhances my skills in communication and social media and I’m enjoying putting what I learned in to practice. I’m hugely grateful to Redfern for allowing me to pursue my goals.”
In late 2016, Redfern was acquired by global group CTM, making CTM one of the seven largest TMCs in the UK.
