A few weeks ago I bought 20m of new fencing. I had no idea if the quote I’d received from the fencing contractor was competitive. I asked a friend who reassured me it was a good deal.

I thought it sounded like a lot of money for a few pieces of wood but as my friend pointed out I was also paying for three workmen, wear and tear on tools and their collective years of experience and hard graft.

They’d get the job done properly first time and my fence would stand the test of time said my pal. He was right.
